1987 28' Mako Marine International 285

This Mako 285 is located in Newport in the Rhode Island, Southern Mass area and comes with a tower, twin Yamaha four stroke engines and a cuddy cabin. The boat is owned by a world renowned yachting photographer who has had to keep his boat in top shape to be able to be available for assignments.

This Mako is a split console sport fishing boat built in 1987. The boat is powered by a pair of Yamaha F225 4 stroke counter rotating outboard engines with 785 hours on them. These engines are 2002s. The engines have been professionally maintained, by a Yamaha authorized dealer every winter. At 24 knots this boat uses a total 16 gallons of fuel per hour. Very economical for a heavy sea worthy boat that can run from Newport to Block Island in about 50 minutes in virtually any conditions. This is a real sea boat and has done all the islands from Nantucket to Orient Point on LI.
 
This boat has a full tower with all controls in the tower and in the lower steering station. The lower steering station is completely enclosed with canvas enclosures and foul weather gear is never needed on this boat.
She was rewired 3 seasons ago. A new baffled aluminum tank was installed at the same time. The hydraulic steering was installed about 4 years ago and works perfectly, The boat has all new Raymarine electronics: radar, color gps plotter with fish finder and a VHF . All the electronics are duplicated both upstairs and downstairs.
 
 
The hull is in perfect condition and is the only original part of the boat left. All the other parts have been replaced.. The bottom was stripped two winters ago using the soda blast method.
 
The boat has a cuddy cabin all the way forward with a small V berth and chemical toilet. This is a great place to sleep and store fishing rods or any thing else. Its dry and well protected. Between the cuddy cabin and the split console is a great seating area with two benches that will seat 6-8 people comfortably.
